EMS Training & Research Institute Statement of Mission

There is no second chance to save a life. That is why not merely adequate or appropriate — but excellent — training is vital. Therefore, with the support of the Advanced Medical Transport Board of Directors, the vision of our Executive Director, and the experience of a dedicated team of paramedics and other healthcare professionals... a mission of EMS training excellence was born.

The EMS Training & Research Institute will:

• Design curriculum that goes beyond required standards
• Employ highly qualified, field-experienced instructors
• Create the ultimate learning environment
• Offer the most advanced training technology
• Conduct the most realistic EMS training scenarios to give our students not just the skills, but also the confidence, for their first real patient contact
• Offer the area's most diverse and intensive field internships
• Help ensure that each student reaches his or her personal and professional goals in the EMS field
• Continue to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our students and the medical community
• Earn recognition throughout the state of Illinois as a training institute of the highest caliber
• Research new developments, theories and treatment modalities to improve field performance
• Above all, teach the value of human life, the role of responsibility of EMS providers, and to not just perform the skills necessary for pre-hospital care, but to be responsive and compassionate to the needs of the patient
